Mathematical Manager

Our respectable client in the Amsterdam area is an organization that serves European and international markets as part of a Testing network amongst selected companies. They offer independent consulting, testing, inspection and certification services for regulatory markets worldwide. They are a leader in testing various devices and online systems for the use by the customers of their clients worldwide.
They have established an impressive team of in-house professionals to test and certify equipment, including mathematicians, hardware and software engineers, compliance engineers, system and communication engineers, high-tech engineers and quality assurance specialists at a fixed location. These highly trained professionals deliver impressive services and expertise. Prototypes are tested for proper functionality and compliance with regulations of each specific jurisdiction. You are part of several productive teams, consisting of 25+ Mathematicians, Electrical Testers and Software engineers. As a Mathematical Manager you work closely with clients regarding customized applications. You may occasionally be required to visit customer sites (abroad) to assist in rolling out (beta) versions. This is an in-house position and not a consultancy position.
Duties and responsibilities:
-Manages department personnel, which involves direct and indirect responsibilities for interviewing, selection, training, motivating, and performance evaluations.
-Assigns and allocates work in a manner that utilizes employee’s strengths to efficiently maintain operations.
-Develops operations processes and procedures to enhance efficiencies in the department.
-Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all work performed.
-Educates all staff of the department’s process as it relates to their position.
-Handles escalated department questions or issues.
-Sets clear goals by communicating job expectations, appraising work performance and consistently evaluating employees.
-Provides employees with resources, training, and support necessary to complete work assignments.
-Consistently reviews, approves, and submits administrative work, including, but not limited to, and time off (Vacation/Sick) prior to established due dates by using several tools.
-Understands client’s standards (or all regulations) and intent, this also includes understanding how and who makes interpretations, and when interpretations are necessary and warranted. It also includes facilitating interpretations made into new test procedures and into documentation.
-Client Services Support.
-Provides estimates for new projects from internal and external clients.
-Participates in tradeshows, trainings and/or regulatory conferences, when necessary.
-Capable of operating as the primary contact person between clients while effectively balancing workloads, assigning tasks, monitoring, and reviewing all work performed for the duration of the any assigned project.
Required skills/Experience:
-Relevant combination of education, training and expertise.
-Knowledge of probability theories and statistics is a pre.
-Minimum 1-3 years experience within a (managing) similar role.
-Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
-Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
-High level of initiative with the ability to motivate others.
-Strong ability to work independently or in a team setting.
-Must be able to effectively manage a large workload.
-Must have the ability to communicate, both orally and written, with other members of the team, clients/prospective clients, employees, and management.
-Must have the ability to handle and organize multiple projects and deadlines.
-Must demonstrate a high degree of attention to quality, details, and correctness.
